Bob Dixon has been a boat builder, car builder, a fresh water sailor and discovered a natural talent for wood carving after retiring.  Bob has belonged to five carving clubs, including Ducks Unlimited while refining his carving skills.  Upon mastering the craft, Bob began teaching wood carving in Florida, Arizona and his home state of Michigan.  Bob competed in many competitions from Beginner to Master, winning blue ribbons in all categories including the 2003 Point Mouillee Waterfowl Festival Best in Show.

Feeling adventuresome, Bob noticed the white cedar fence posts surrounding his sisters cow pasture.  The character of the posts, weathered over 40 years presented a patina Bob couldn't resist.  Luckily, the cows were long gone as well as the barbed wire.  A carving favorite is the duck, closely followed by the loon.  He's not limited his work to these two subjects, but has carved swans, geese and all types of song birds.

Presently, Bob regularly dominates carving to several ducks Unlimited local annual banquets as well as participating in a nationwide program to carve Eagle Head Canes for seriously wounded amputee veterans from WWII to Iraq and Afghanistan. The program was adopted by carvers across America.
